Greenville Mental Health Center's "Open Hearts Gallery" is a dynamic gallery featuring the talented artwork of people who live with or have recovered from mental illness. The gallery also features permanent works by local artist William Thompson including his large 14' x 12' work entitled "Living Waters". The gallery officially opened May 22, 2008 with an exhibit titled "Unification in Art -- A Community on Display". The beautiful, Colorful, and poignant paintings and artwork on display serve as a bridge to combat stigma and as a reminder of how resilient and similar we all are. The gallery was recently placed on the First Friday Gallery tour list and plans to be open for public viewing according to the First Friday schedule. In addition, the public may view the gallery Monday through Friday, exclusive of holidays, from 4 to 5 p.m. and at other specific event times as they are announced. The Greenville Mental Health Center is proud to promote this gallery as a bridge to recovery and toward community unification and learning.
