We are consumers, clients, patients and survivors of mental health care.  We are poets, playwrights, potters and politicians.  We are doctors, lawyers, mothers, fathers, auto mechanics and factory workers.  We are people entitled to dignity, respect and a life worth living.

There is a strong need for us to overcome the shame and stigma associated with our illness.  We become well and empowered.  The consumer movement in Mental Health is growing into a powerful contingent and a force with which to be reckoned.  A recent battle cry "No limits on recovery!" resonates within our ranks.

Here at Greenville Mental Health, we concern ourselves with matters pertinent to consumers.  We have an Anti-Stigma campaign and the Palmetto Media Watch.  We scrutinize the media for depictions of mental illness we deem to be offensive, inaccurate or praiseworthy.  We hold the people accountable.  We have a speakers program available for business, school, civic and professional organizations.  These presentations can be tailored to fit the needs of any audience and address current topics relevant to mental health here in our community.
